  • Arenz bests Beaver Dam Raceway foes for eighth MSA triumph of 2021

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) August 28, 2021 – Akright Auto Parts of Sheboygan Falls Midwest Sprint Car Association point leader Travis Arenz of Sheboygan Falls proved to be the clear class of the field, turning in a near flawless performance on an ultra-fast and tacky track surface on the way to his eighth MSA A-main victory of the 2021 campaign in the 25-lap headliner at Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, Wis. on Saturday, Aug. 28. The 21st MSA 360 Sprint Car Series racing event of the 2021 season saw a strong field of 32 cars sign in for series’ third appearance of the year at the Beaver Dam Raceway high-banked third-mile clay oval. Third-year MSA competitor Tyler Davis of Franklin outdueled outside front row starter Tyler Brabant of Waupun to grab the lead of the 25-lap main event in turn three of the opening lap. As Davis paced the field in the early going on the lightning-fast track surface, the first of three stoppages occurred on lap 4 when a yellow flag appeared after Tim Haddy of Waupun hit in the turn four wall. Following the restart, eighth starter Travis Arenz, who captured the victory in the MSA’s most recent appearance at Beaver Dam Raceway on May 7, swept into fourth place while Davis built up a quarter-straightaway cushion on the field. As Brabant and fourth starter Blake Wondra of Fond du Lac dueled side by side for second place, Arenz worked his way into third on lap 8. One lap later, Brabant hit the back stretch wall and exited the track shortly after, which allowed Arenz to take over second place in the running order. Arenz quickly reeled in Davis, who was closing in the rear of the field, before using the high groove to power into the lead exiting turn four on lap 12. On lap 13, Austin Hartmann of Sheboygan Falls collided with the front stretch wall to bring out the second caution flag of the race. On the restart, five-time MSA champion Kurt Davis of South Milwaukee, who started seventh, slipped into third on lap 14 and quickly closed the gap on his son, Tyler. Four laps later, Kurt Davis moved passed Tyler Davis to assume second. Just as Arenz had built up a full straightaway lead over Kurt Davis, the red flag appeared on lap 19 after Tyler Davis flipped in turn four. Arenz controlled the restart and cruised over the final six laps en route to his 19th career MSA main event victory and second straight MSA triumph at Beaver Dam Raceway. Kurt Davis finished second, two-time MSA champion Danny Schlafer of Sussex finished third, after starting 10th, in just his second MSA start of the 2021 season, 2011 MSA champion Ben Schmidt of Howards Grove placed fourth after starting sixth and Blake Wondra rounded out the top five. Jack Vanderboom of Dousman won the 15-lap MSA B main. MSA heat race victories went to Brandon Berth of Cascade, Travis Arenz, Bill Taylor of Boltonville and Kurt Davis. Tim Haddy earned the MSA fast qualifier honors with a new Beaver Dam Raceway 360 Sprint Car track record lap of 12.945 seconds. The MSA will return to action in conjunction with the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series and Modifieds for the fifth annual Harry Neitzel Tribute Race on Friday, Sept. 3 at the Dodge County Fairgrounds in Beaver Dam, Wis. Spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with engine warm ups at 6 p.m. and hot laps and qualifying to follow. • McMullen racks up fourth PDTR 360 Sprint Car win of 2021 campaign

Two-time Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car champion and current point leader Brandon McMullen of Oshkosh used a late-race charge in dense lapped traffic to notch his fourth A-main victory of the 2021 campaign in the 25-lap Kristine Hartmann Pleasantview Realty 360 Sprint Car main event at The Plymouth Dirt Track at the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, Aug. 14. Polesitter Kevin Karnitz of West Bend jumped into the lead on the drop of the green flag with outside front row starter Tyler Tischendorf of Waupaca taking second. On lap 3, Travis Arenz of Sheboygan Falls, who started fifth, seized second. Two laps later, Arenz slipped past Karnitz to take over the top spot in turn four. Meanwhile, Brandon McMullen, who started 10th, charged his way into third on lap nine just before the lone caution of the race appeared later on lap nine when Adam Miller of Plymouth spun in turn four. On the restart, Karnitz used a big move to slide in front of Arenz and regain the lead in turn two with Tischendorf and McMullen in tow as Arenz fell back in the field along the cushion. On lap 14, McMullen worked the high groove to move past Tischendorf and gain second in the running order. As the laps wound down, Karnitz caught the rear of the field on lap 21 with McMullen trailing close behind. On lap 24, Karnitz bobbled along the cushion in heavy lapped traffic, which allowed McMullen to take over the lead in turn four. Arenz rebounded in the closing laps to assume second, while McMullen held on to secure his 24th career PDTR 360 Sprint Car A-main victory and 34th career Midwest Sprint Car Association main event win. The victory pushed McMullen past two-time PDTR 360 Sprint Car champion Danny Schlafer of Sussex into second place on the all-time PDTR 360 Sprint Car A-main victory list and moved him just one win behind two-time PDTR 360 Sprint champ Kurt Davis of South Milwaukee, who currently sits atop the main event victory list with 25. • Late pass nets Haddy MSA Angell Park Speedway triumph

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) August 1, 2021 – Twenty-nine year racing veteran Tim Haddy of Waupun used a late pass of 18-year-old third-year 360 Sprint Car driver Tyler Davis of Franklin to notch his first Akright Auto Parts of Sheboygan Falls Midwest Sprint Car Association A-main victory of the 2021 season in the 20-lap headliner at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wis. on Sunday, Aug. 1. The 19th MSA 360 Sprint Car Series racing event of the 2021 season featured a field of 23 cars in the series’ second appearance of the season at the historic Angell Park Speedway. Tyler Davis, who was the evening’s fast qualifier, jumped into the lead of the 20-lap MSA main event in turn one of the opening lap from the pole position before a red flag was displayed for a seven-car incident along the backstretch involving Austin Hartmann of Sheboygan Falls, whose machine flipped on its side, Tony Wondra of Campbellsport, Justin Miller of Plymouth, Preston Ruh of Elkhart Lake, Tyler Brabant of Waupun, Bill Taylor of Boltonville and five-time MSA champion Kurt Davis of South Milwaukee. After a complete restart, Tyler Davis again bolted into the lead and proceeded to build up a full straightaway lead over second starter Tim Haddy on the heavily rubbered-up track surface. On lap 9, Davis began to encounter slower traffic on the one-lane track, which allowed Haddy to cut the gap significantly. Haddy stayed within Davis’ tire tracks until lap 19 when Davis slid high and Haddy pounced to take over the top spot. MSA point leader Travis Arenz of Sheboygan Falls, who started third, also moved underneath Davis on the final lap as Haddy went on to notch his 19th career MSA A-main victory. Arenz came home second, Will Gerrits of Waupun, who started sixth, finished third, Tyler Davis placed an MSA career-best fourth and Jack Vanderboom of Dousman, who started fourth, finished fifth. • Gerrits gets first MSA triumph of 2021 season

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) July 10, 2021 – As the Plymouth Dirt Track Racing season eclipsed the half-way point, Waupun's Will Gerrits earned his first 25-lap Kristine Hartmann Pleasantview Realty 360 Sprint Car A-main victory of the 2021 campaign at The Plymouth Dirt Track at the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, July 10. On the drop of the green flag of the 25-lap 360 Sprint Car A main, 2008 PDTR 360 Sprint Car champ Lance Fassbender of Burnett jumped into the lead from the pole position. On lap 2, lone caution flag of the race appeared when PDTR 360 Sprint Car rookie Matt Rechek of Beaver Dam spun on the backstretch after making contact with Alex Pokorski of West Bend. Rechek was done for the night, while Pokorski went to the work area for repairs before returning to restart at the rear of the field. Fassbender controlled the restart as Will Gerrits worked the high line to move up to second from his sixth starting spot on lap 3. Meanwhile, ninth starter Travis Arenz of Sheboygan Falls also rode the high groove of the smooth and slick track surface to seize third on lap 4. On lap 6, Gerrits powered around Fassbender to take over the top spot exiting turn four, while Arenz slipped into second one lap later. As Arenz tested the high, middle and low lines in an attempt to close the gap on Gerrits, the leaders caught the rear of the field on lap 15. Three laps later, Arenz moved in to challenge Gerrits for the lead with a daring low move in turn two. However, Gerrits successfully fended off Arenz’s spirited charge to maintain the top spot. On lap 20, Arenz nearly lost control as his car spun sideways along the outside groove in turn four, which allowed the low-riding Fassbender to regain second. Meanwhile, out in front of the field, Gerrits skillfully maneuvered through lapped traffic to nail down his third career PDTR and Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car A-main victory. Fassbender held on to finish second, Arenz was third, fourth starter Jack Vanderboom of Dousman took fourth and second starter Tyler Tischendorf of Waupaca rounded out the top five. Adam Miller of Plymouth won the 15-lap 360 Sprint Car B main. PDTR action is scheduled to resume on Saturday, July 17 with action in the 360 Sprint Car, Late Model, Grand National and B Mod divisions. • Arenz storms to seventh MSA victory of 2021 season

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) July 1, 2021 – Midwest Sprint Car Association and Plymouth Dirt Track Racing point leader Travis Arenz of Sheboygan Falls continued his season-long hot streak by claiming his seventh MSA A-main victory of the 2021 campaign in the 25-lap PDTR 360 Sprint Car main event as part of a special Road America NASCAR Weekend Kickoff event held before a huge crowd of spectators at The Plymouth Dirt Track at the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds in Plymouth, Wis. on Thursday, July 1. Outside front row starter Adam Miller of Plymouth grabbed the lead on the drop of the green field of the 25-lap PDTR 360 Sprint Car A main with fourth starter Jack Vanderboom of Dousman following in second. As Miller paced the field, the first of three caution flags appeared on lap 5 when Justin Erickson of Plymouth and Tony Wondra of Campbellsport collided in turn two. Following the restart, 2018 PDTR 360 Sprint Car champ Justin Miller of Plymouth moved in from his sixth starting spot to pressure his brother, Adam, for the lead on lap 7. Adam fended off Justin in the battle of the Miller brothers to maintain the top spot before Travis Arenz, who started ninth, began to make his presence felt at the front of the field. After moving into third on lap 14 on the lightning fast track surface, Arenz worked around Justin Miller to take second on lap 15. On lap later, Arenz powered past Adam Miller and into the lead exiting turn four and quickly built up a sizeable cushion. The second caution flag appeared on lap 18 when Will Gerrits of Waupun stopped in turn four. Arenz bolted away from the pack on the restart and held a half-lap lead when Austin Hartmann of Sheboygan Falls flipped on the back stretch on lap 24 to bring out a red flag and set up a green-white-checkered flag finish. On the restart, Arenz again wired the field as he pulled away from Adam Miller to notch his eighth career PDTR 360 Sprint Car main event win, 18th career Midwest Sprint Car Association A-main victory and fourth feature victory of the 2021 season at The Plymouth Dirt Track. Adam Miller placed second, two-time PDTR 360 Sprint Car champion Kurt Davis of South Milwaukee, who started third, finished third, Justin Miller was fourth and two-time PDTR 360 Sprint Car champ Brandon McMullen of Oshkosh finished fifth after starting eighth. Tony Wondra captured the 15-lap PDTR 360 Sprint Car B main. The event, which was sponsored by Jensen Sales and Service, drew 30 PDTR/MSA 360 Sprint Cars. • Arenz powers to sixth MSA victory of 2021 campaign

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) June 25, 2021 – Midwest Sprint Car Association point leader Travis Arenz of Sheboygan Falls took advantage of an inside second row starting spot in cruising to his sixth MSA A-main victory of the 2021 campaign in the 25-lap Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car A-main at The Plymouth Dirt Track at the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds in Plymouth, Wis. on Friday, June 25. Outside front row starter Blake Wondra of Fond du Lac grabbed the lead of the 25-lap 360 Sprint Car A main on the opening lap and paced the field for the first four circuits. On lap five, third starter Travis Arenz powered in to seize the top spot from Wondra in turn four. Arenz wasted no time in throttling the field as he built up a half-lap cushion before he entered lapped traffic on lap 11. On lap 14, Adam Miller of Plymouth, who was running second after starting fourth, flipped his machine in turn two to bring out the red flag, which turned out to be the only stoppage of the race. Miller was able to emerge from his car without serious injury. Arenz lined up for the restart with five lapped cars placed between his machine and the second-place car of polesitter Justin Erickson of Plymouth. With an ample cushion to work with, Arenz bolted away from the field to again run away and hide from the pack. On lap 16, two-time PDTR 360 Sprint Car champion Brandon McMullen of Oshkosh, who started 10th, moved into second and began to trim away at Arenz’s lead. However, Arenz continued to set a frantic pace at the front of the field over the final 10 laps en route to his third PDTR 360 Sprint Car main event win of the 2021 season, seventh career PDTR 360 Sprint Car A-main victory and 17th career Midwest Sprint Car Association main-event triumph. In the 25-lap 360 Sprint Car A main, a red flag and caution flag flew before the first lap of the race was completed. The red flag appeared on the initial start when Nick Daywalt of Hubertus flipped exiting turn two on the opening lap. On the ensuing start attempt, 2018 PDTR 360 Sprint Car champion Justin Miller of Plymouth got sideways while running second in turn four and collected two-time PDTR 360 Sprint Car champ Brandon McMullen of Oshkosh. When the race finally got underway, Kevin Karnitz bolted into the lead from the pole position with Justin Miller, who started second, falling into second in the running order. By lap 6, Karnitz had built up a full straightaway lead over Miller. Three laps later Karnitz encountered heavy lapped traffic. However, Karnitz dispatched the slower cars in quick order to maintain a solid cushion over the field. On lap 20, Tyler Tischendorf of Waupaca and Scott Conger of Eagle collided in turn four, which also collected Justin Miller and 2011 PDTR 360 Sprint Car champion Ben Schmidt, who started sixth and was running fifth. Schmidt was able to continue after going to the work area, while Miller was done for the night. Following the single-file restart, Karnitz was firmly in control as he pulled away from seventh starter Will Gerrits of Waupun, who was running second. • Arenz unstoppable in notching MSA Hagar Nelson Memorial victory

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) June 18, 2021 – Travis Arenz of Sheboygan Falls continued his recent hot streak as he worked the high groove to perfection to notch his third consecutive and fifth overall A-main victory of the 2021 season in the third annual Akright Auto Parts of Sheboygan Falls Midwest Sprint Car Association 25-lap Dave “Hagar” Nelson Memorial Race at Outagamie Speedway Powered by EWSC Racing in Seymour, Wis. on Friday, June 18. The 12th MSA racing event of the 2021 season and fifth overall series race at Outagamie Speedway featured a field of 24 cars to honor Dave “Hagar” Nelson, a dedicated supporter of the MSA, who passed away on July 5, 2019. Outside front row starter Brandon Berth of Cascade outpowered polesitter Tyler Davis of Franklin to take the lead on first turn of the opening lap of the main event. By lap 3, Berth had bolted out to a huge full straightaway lead over Davis on the dry, slick racing surface. On lap 6, sixth starter Justin Miller of Plymouth worked around Davis to take over the runner-up spot before the leaders began to encounter lapped traffic on lap 8. On lap 9, Travis Arenz, who started ninth, bolted into third and closed quickly on Miller in dense lapped traffic. Four laps later, Arenz used the extreme outside line to seize second as the low-riding Berth was boxed in behind slower cars running in the inside groove. Arenz made the winning move to take the lead entering turn one on lap 15 to relegate Berth to second in the running order. By lap 18, Arenz had already built up a commanding full straightaway cushion over Berth when the lone caution flag of the race appeared for a single-car spin in turn two. Following the restart, it was all Arenz as he pulled away to score his first Hagar Nelson Memorial Race victory and 16th career MSA A-main triumph by a full straightaway margin over Berth, who finished second. Four-time MSA champion Brandon McMullen of Oshkosh finished third after starting seventh, Justin Miller placed fourth and 2011 MSA champion Ben Schmidt of Howards Grove placed fifth after starting fifth.
