MSA Rookie's for 2018

Three drivers will compete as rookies with the Midwest Sprint Car Association presented by Bank First National this season. A few others will run limited shows in preparation for the 2019 season.

Chris Flick of Beaver Dam is making the move to Sprint Cars. Chris grew up watching his father race at the Dodge Co. Fairgrounds. Chris himself has competed in INEX Legends cars were he was the 2012 rookie of the year. He spent the last two years travelling and competing in an IMCA Sport Mod. This year will be his 7th full year of racing and will include the full MSA schedule and some Sport Mod racing as well. His goals are to learn about set-ups and become a more diverse driver while chasing the rookie title.

Chris Larson of Franksville will be making his dream of racing a Sprint Car come true. He plans to compete in 12-15 MSA events in a Randy Sippel prepared car sponsored by Greater Milwaukee Auto Auctions and Ramsey’s Auto Transport. Chris worked on a truck and tractor pulling team in the past. The father of three kids will also race to promote awareness for Cystic Fibrosis in honor of his son. He wants to thank babycakes (his wife) for going along with this plan!

Travis Ahrens calls Sheboygan home. The 26 year old got his start racing at the Sheboygan Co. Fairgrounds (PDTR) in Plymouth in 2008 racing four cylinder cars. In 2013 he was crowned track champion in the four cylinder division. During the 2014 season he moved to an IMCA Sport Mod. During the 2015 season he was named rookie of the year at 141 Speedway and Seymour Speedway and finished 3rd in national IMCA rookie points. In 2016 Travis was crowned track champion in the IMCA northern sport mod division at 141 Speedway. Travis’ goals for the 2018 season are to capture the MSA Rookie of the Year, making every single MSA show along the way, keep the car in one piece and to be consistent.

In addition Brandon Berth and Tyler Davis will both make limited appearances in a MSA sprint car in 2018, preserving their Rookie of the Year status for a full run in 2019.
